President Donald Trump has signed an executive order enacting a pay raise for federal employees.

The order, enabled by a bill passed earlier this month and signed by the president Thursday, gives all federal employees at least a 2.6% raise – the largest federal increase in a decade. The pay hike will go into effect during the first full pay period of 2020 – Jan. 5 for most employees.

Federal employees in four dozen cities across the U.S. will also see additional raises.

Workers in the Baltimore and Washington, D.C., area will see the largest increase at 3.52%. Employees in the San Francisco and Seattle areas will get a 3.4% raise, The Washington Post reported.

Federal employees in the San Diego, Los Angeles and New York areas will get raises between 3.3% and 3.4%.

The pay increases apply to all government employees that fall under the General Schedule, the government salary system that includes non executive federal employees.
